What Makes It Different
Larger crystals season meat and fish beautifully, dissolve into soups and brines, finish vegetables with a clean crunch.
Clean, mild, balanced. The kind of salt that lets ingredients shine instead of overpowering them.
Naturally harvested, naturally lower in sodium, with the trace minerals nature put there.
Refined vs. Natural
Conventional table salt is stripped of everything except sodium chloride. Oro Blanco is naturally harvested, gently dried, and packaged unprocessed.

Oro Blanco was inspired by our family's roots in Colima, Mexico, a heritage stretching back over 400 years. Along Colima's Pacific coast, sea salt has been harvested from natural coastal lagoons for generations and used daily in traditional cooking.
For centuries, families in the region have relied on this naturally harvested sea salt as a kitchen staple, not as a specialty product, but as everyday seasoning passed from one generation to the next.
Our goal is simple: bring that tradition to more kitchens across the United States. A real ingredient, harvested the way it has been for centuries, at a price that lets it be an everyday pantry staple.
From our family to yours.

Coarse. The label calls it grano natural, meaning the crystals are left at the size they come out of the lagoon rather than milled down. That gives you larger, irregular grains that hold their shape on food instead of disappearing into it.
Use it anywhere the salt has time to dissolve or where a little texture is welcome. Season meat and fish before they hit the heat, salt pasta water and brines, stir it into soups and sauces, and finish roasted vegetables or a sliced steak right before serving.
For baking, where salt has to distribute evenly through a dry mix, a fine grind measures more predictably. A quick crush between your fingers works if coarse is what you have.
Yes, by volume. The crystals are larger and less dense than refined table salt, so a teaspoon of Oro Blanco holds noticeably less sodium than a teaspoon of table salt. You season to taste the way you always have and take in less sodium doing it.
No. Iodine is added to conventional table salt during processing, and Oro Blanco is unrefined, so nothing is added to it at all. If you rely on iodized salt as your iodine source, keep that in mind and talk to your doctor about what makes sense for you.
Nothing. No anti-caking agents, no bleaching, no additives of any kind. Just sea salt harvested from the lagoon, dried, and packed. The trace minerals in it are the ones that were there naturally.
Different coasts, different traditions, both hand-harvested and unrefined. French Grey comes from the clay-lined salt ponds of Brittany, France, and carries the grey tint and the moisture that clay gives it. Oro Blanco comes from the Pacific lagoons of Colima, Mexico, and is a brighter, drier white crystal with a milder finish.
Plenty of people keep both: French Grey as the everyday mineral salt, Oro Blanco for cooking and finishing where you want a cleaner, less assertive flavor.
Reseal the bag and keep it somewhere cool and dry, away from the stove. Because it is a natural sea salt with no anti-caking agents, it can pick up a little moisture and clump. That is normal and not a sign anything is wrong. Break the clumps up with a spoon or your fingers and use it as usual.
